Welcome to the web site for the Illinois Potable Water Supply Operators Association. This association was formed in 1931 and was a way for operators to meet with regulatory officials to discuss new regulations, operations and safety issues. The association, now in its 83rd year, has expanded, offering operators a chance to meet vendors, view products, and even participate in hands-on demonstrations during its annual conference event.
The upcoming 83rd Annual Fall Conference at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield this September 10th – 12th, 2014 should be full of activities, vendors, products & services as well as offering certified operators continuing education training for their certificate renewal, and fellowship time with other operators. I myself have been attending the conference for over 30 years and I still find new things to see and do.
A few years ago I was asked if I’d like to serve the association as an officer. I started as 3rd vice president and have progressed to the office of president that I hold now. Even after attending the conference for so many years I was still amazed at what it takes to be able to put on this event every year. The commitment and dedication by all is overwhelming and enjoyable. It sure has given me a whole new perspective of the volunteers that put on this event. Ask an officer how you can join in too.
Credit does need to be given where it is due, and that credit goes to you, the association members. Without membership there would be no conference, no officers, no Operator of the Year awards, or association itself. You are the driving force behind all of this. I want to take this opportunity to ask you to invite a co-worker or another PWS operator to attend this year’s conference. We need now more than ever to keep the membership alive.
In closing I’d like to thank the fellow officers and committee people for all of their hard work & dedication to make this association a success.
